What is a data feed?

A data feed is a means through which search engines receive updated information about your website. Data feeds are complex and can make or literally break a business or program.

Position Tech’s foundation has been built around it's feed building expertise. In 1999, Position Tech worked with a team of engineers at Inktomi to design and develop the first Paid Inclusion program, which helped to get websites crawled and indexed. Inktomi, which was later acquired by Yahoo, is credited with a number of innovations that are foundations for today’s search engines. As the pioneers of Paid Inclusion, Position Tech became the premier data feed supplier for the Yahoo! Search Submit Pro program. Additionally, Yahoo! held Position Tech's feed building skills in such high regard they allowed us to become one of two providers to work on the data feeds for their largest clients, like Target and eBay. Position Tech has continued to host a number of these services in collaboration with Yahoo.

In June 2008 Position Tech launched the first self-serve model of Yahoo!'s Search Submit Pro Program expanding the reach of the product to small to mid-sized businesses.
